A group comprising of women is cautioning parents and family members against compromising rape cases.
Women United to Fight Sexual Base Violence in Liberia believes that most rape cases are not reaching the police and courts because of reported compromises.
The group has set up a free hot-line to receive rape incidents from various communities. The hotlines number is 7428.
The group’s Executive Director Krubo Zayzay told reporters that they are working to ensure that rape cases are not kept among family members.
Madam Zayzay said they would make sure that rape incidents are taken to the police and the courts.
Also speaking, the Board Chairperson of the Women United to Fight Sexual Based Violence Alfred Kargbo said the project has already been launched in areas where rape is on the increase.
Mr. Kargbo named Monrovia, Kakata and Buchanan as areas that the group will concentrate during the implementation of the program.
He said the initiative which seeks to expose rape in Liberia is supported by the Urgent Action Fund.
