Awoniyi’s Wife Seeks Stiffer Penalty for Violence Against Women


Lokoja — Wife of the Kogi State Deputy Governor, Tokunbo Awoniyi, has advocated stiffer penalties for persons involved in violence against women.

Mrs Awoniyi who gave the charge in her Christmas message to women in Kogi State urged them to always speak out whenever they are abused. She described Christmas as a time of peace, love and compassion and lamented the increasing cases of violence against women in the country.

She appealed to women to take their rightful place in building a united family, saying a society with well-knit families end up making a better nation and called on Nigerians to share love through giving to the less privileged and the vulnerable in the spirit of Christmas – AllAfrica
